Lamlong HSS students protest teacher shortage

Imphal, August 04 2025: Students of Lamlong Higher Secondary School staged protest in front of their school on Monday, reiterating their long-standing demand for the appointment of a Manipuri subject teacher, a post which has remained vacant since the beginning of the current academic session.

The students also warned of intensified agitations, including locking the principal's office, if their demand is not met.

Tongbram Sanathoi, a Class 12 Science student, told reporters that due.to the absence of both Manipuri and Elective Manipuri teachers, students have been unable to attend regular classes.

She said the issue had been brought to the attention of the school principal and authorities concerned, but no action was taken until the recent student agitation, which led to two teachers being temporarily deputed from TG Higher Secondary School for just two days.

Condemning the response as inadequate, she said the students are demanding that the teacher shortage be addressed and regular teachers appointed within three days.

Sanathoi cautioned that intensified agitations, including locking the principal's office, would be launched if the demand is not met within the stipulated time.
