Bishnupur, October 28 2024:
A memorial tomb of Longjam Naocha, who was killed when a bomb fired by Kuki militants struck his house while he was asleep, was unveiled at his cremation site at Phaobakchao-Ikhai Awang Leikai, on Monday.
Speaking at the solemn event, Peace Committee Kangleipak Manipur advisor and former UNLF chairman RK Sanayaima opined that true peace is not only absence of gunfire but a state in which individuals can live without fear.
He lamented that the on-going crisis in the state, which has persisted for an extended period, has claimed many lives, with no foreseeable resolution in sight.
Naocha, Sanayamai, said was among the 50 special members of the Peace Committee, dedicated to fostering a society where diverse indigenous communities coexist in harmony while undertaking various initiatives to safeguard the territorial integrity of the state.
Family members of Naocha, along with volunteers of the Peace Committee Kangleipak Manipur and representatives from various Meira Paibi groups, gathered to pay their respects, offering floral tributes at his memorial tomb.
