Sit-in demands justice in mom-daughter death case

Imphal, September 25 2024: Demanding speedy investigation and disclosure of the circumstances leading to the suspicious death of a mother daughter duo, a sit-in demonstration was organised by the JAC Against Unnatural Death of Bashanti & Lanchenbi at Haoreibi Kangjeibung Mapal community hall on Wednesday.

According to JAC convenor Oinam Chaoba Leima, bodies of the deceased mother and her daughter will not be claimed till handing over report of the post-mortem conducted on Tuesday.

In connection with the suspicious deaths, local MLA Karam Shyam, along with the JAC, submitted a memorandum to the chief minis -ter and expressed hope that the assurances given by the chief minister during their meeting will be translated into action.

Chaoba also emphasised the need for the community to unite and take action against such heinous acts.

It is worth noting'that the police have initiated an investigation into the matter and are currently recording statements from individuals suspected to be connected with the case.
