Man falls in Barak river, untraceable

Senapati, June 24 2025: In a tragic incident, a person was swept away by the strong current of the Barak River at Khongnem Thana village in Senapati district on Tuesday morning.

The person has been identified Athisii Athikho of Khongnem Thana village.

The incident reportedly occurred around 9:30 am when Athisii was crossing the river on a hanging bridge and fell into it.

A search was launched immediately by the locals and district police personnel but proved futile due to the strong water current.

Meanwhile, Senapati DC has advised the director (Relief and Disaster Management, Manipur) for des patch of an SDRF team at the earliest for search and rescue operations.
