Extorter, KCP trio held in joint operation

Imphal, June 23 2024:
A joint team of Kangpokpi district police, 22 Assam Rifles and CRPF on Saturday apprehended one Sathaolen Kilong (24) s/o Hekap Kilong of Luwangsangol village in Kangpokpi district from near Bongmol village on the charge of extorting money from truck drivers.
According to a police report, the joint team rounded up Sathaolen from an area between Kalapahar and Bongmol village around 3pm Saturday.
Meanwhile, a team of Imphal West district police arrested three active members of the armed Kangleipak Communist Party (City Meitei) from Changangei Ucheckon on Saturday.
The trio has been identified as Akoijam Robinson Singh (31) s/o Ak Deban Singh of Leishangthem Khong Manung Leikai, Thoubal district; Phijam Tomba Singh alias Mairaba (50) s/o (L) Kokchao Singh of Sekta Mayai Leikai, Imphal East district; and Lourembam Sadananda Singh (18) s/o Shyamchandra Singh of Moidangpok Khunou, Imphal West district.
According to a police report, the team arrested the trio from Changangei Ucheckon around 7pm Saturday.
The team also recovered one white Mahindra XUV500 from their possession.
All three have been handed over to Lamphel PS for further legal action.
In another development, Assam Rifles and Manipur police conducted a joint operation in Waithou Ridge area of Thoubal district and recovered one 12 bore single barrel gun, one 12 bore bolt action rifle, one 9 mm CMG, ammunition, grenades and warlike stores.
The recovered items were handed over to Manipur Police, said PRO IGAR (S) in a release on Sunday, adding that the operation was conducted on the basis of inputs about presence of arms and ammunition in the area.
