Imphal, February 23 2025:
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has condemned the February 21 incident wherein student candidates caused destruction to properties of Evergreen Flower School, Thoubal, one of the centres for the High School Leaving Certificate examination, in an alleged retaliation after the invigilators prohibited use of unfair.
In a release, DESAM education secretary Oinam Romesh demanded punitive actions against those involved in damaging the school's properties and asked the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) to accord seriousness on the matter.
As examination serves as an evaluation of the knowledge acquired by students throughout the year, it is deplorable that students, who are the future pillars of the society, resorted to targeting the school's properties against the authorities' strict adherence to prescribed guidelines, said the secretary.
"Such actions should not be dismissed as mere mischief by a few students.
Instead, they should be viewed as a reflection of a declining societal value system," maintained the secretary, and called upon people, particularly family elders and guardians, to take proactive roles in saving the society.
