DC oversees dredging of choked canal

Kakching, August 22 2024:
Thoubal deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subhash on Thursday checked the ongoing dredging work at Loushi Chingkakpham Khongjao Maril, which had been blocked by a recent landslide caused by incessant rains in past few days.
Excavators and tipper trucks are being used to remove the soil to drain excess water from Loushi Pat towards Kharung Pat.
During his visit, DC Subhash provided 100 litres of diesel for the dredging work and also assured further help if required.
The dredging of the canal is crucial to address water logging in agriculture lands and fish farms of Loushi Loukol, Kakching Wairi Awang Loukol, Irengband, Mairenbam, Hawairou, Sora, Langthabal Khunou, Tekcham, Papal, etc.
Speaking to the media in the presence of representatives of local organisations, United Clubs' Organisation, Kakching Wairi president Moirangthem Brojen informed that it might take 5-6 more days to clear the canal.
Mentioning that the work will entail substantial expenditure, he appealed to farmers and fish farmers and the public to extend their support.
