ASI suspended for misconduct

Imphal, June 22 2024:
An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of the Manipur Police has been suspended for violating police guidelines, following a video of his misconduct that reached the DGP.
The suspended ASI, identified as S Chandrakumar, of Imphal East district police is attached to the Commando unit of Imphal West district police.
The suspension order was issued after ASI Chandrakumar, in police uniform, was seen violating procedures while dealing with a truck driver transporting goods from Khatkhati, Assam to Imphal via National Highway 102 in Imphal West district on Friday night.
The incident, captured on video, subsequently went viral on social media.
According to an order issued by SP Imphal West K Meghachandra, a departmental inquiry is being initiated against ASI Chandrakumar.
The suspension is effective immediately and will remain in force until further notice.
During the suspension period, ASI S Chandrakumar is assigned to the Reserve Line of Imphal East district police and is prohibited from leaving the station without prior permission.
His pay and allowances are restricted to subsistence allowances as per the applicable rules.
