Imphal, October 21 2024: Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) along with Khongman Ima Panthoibi VLF and Women's Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited jointly organised a one-day awareness programme on effects of drug abuse at Khongman Zone 4/5 community hall on Monday.

The awareness programme was attended by CADA vice president Ningthoujam Doren, Panthoibi VLF president Laishram Sorojini and Meeyamgi Chaokhat Nupi Lup, Khongman president Puyam Leibakleima as presidium members while CADA secretary general Geetchandra Mangang was the resource person.

In his presentation, Geetchandra stated that in order to keep the youth away from drugs, society needs to evolve a comprehensive strategy to tackle drug abuse, combining demand reduction, harm reduction, and supply reduction.

Family, locality and society have a crucial role in fighting drug menace, he continued, and cautioned that there will be no Manipur in case the issue of drug menace is not addressed promptly.
