13 KYKL cadres among many held; arms, ammos recovered

Imphal, February 20 2025:
Security forces conducted search operations at different locations, arrested 15 members of armed groups and recovered cache of arms and ammunition.
According to a police report, a combined team of Bishnupur district police commando, 5th Sikh Regiment, 2 Mahar Regiment and CRPF conducted search operation at Moirang Kiyam Leikai from around 4 am Thursday leading to the arrest of 13 cadres of the proscribed KYKL from the residence of a doctor.
The 13 have been identified aS Khwairakpam Rojit alias Chingsanglakpa (26) son of Kh Ibomcha Singh of Thamnapokpi Makha Leikai; Kongkham Hemlet Singh alias Thoungamba (27) son of K Munindro Singh of Sugnu Mamang Leikai; Leishangthem Amarjit Singh alias Nongpoknganba (24) son of late L Kunjo Singh of Ningthoukhong ward no 2; Khwairakpam Bikram Singh alias Rex (42) son of late Kh Narahari Singh of Nachou ward no 5; S Deepak Singh (33) son of S Bhogen of Yurembam Maning Leikai; Laishram Indrakumar Meitei alias Boi alias Nganba (36) son of (L) Tombiyai of Itham Maning Leikai; Konthoujam Swamajit Singh alias Thoujan (36) son of K Jiten Singh of Lamphel Khunou; Heisnam Premananda Meitei alias Rocky (33) son of H Shyambabu Singh of Thanga Khunjem Leikai; Khundongbam Nimai Singh (29) of Kh Jaramching of Heirok Part-III; Naorem Amarjit Singh alias Thanil (28) son of late N Biren Singh of Sugnu Awang Leikai; Abujam Ringku Meitei alias Thawairakpa (24) son of A Apabi of Sugnu Makha Leikai; Moirangthem Inao Singh alias Robin (44) son of late M Ratan Singh of Moirang Khunou Khonangkhong; and Huirongbam Ibomcha Meitei alias Athoi alias Pammel (18) son of H Inao of Lousangkhong Mayai Leikai.
The arrested cadres are all self-styled private of KYKL involved in extortion from the public.
Three walkie-talkie, four chargers, 31 pairs of jungle-boots, 14 rounds of 5.56x45mm, six rounds of 7.62x39mm, seven rounds of 7.62x51mm, seven mobile phones and camouflage clothes and tactical gears were seized.
Moreover, a cadre of KYKL identified as Mayanglambam Kiran Singh alias Tikendrajit (43) son of late Nimai Singh of Kakching Sumak Leikai was arrested by Kakching district police commando from Sumak Leikai on Thursday around 6.30 am.
Upon interrogation, Kiran confided that he was working under self-styled lieutenant Premjit and had joined the outfit in 2006.A mobile phone was also seized from him.
According to a release issued by Manipur police control room, security forces arrested an active cadre of the armed KCP (PWG) identified as Kshetrimayum Badrajit Singh alias Yangba (39) of Kongba Kshetri Leikai from Akampat NEILIT gate on Wednesday.
The arrested person is involved in extortion from government officials and public.
Meanwhile, security forces recovered one each SLR, single barrel, local made Rompi (pipe bomb launcher), three 36 HE hand grenades without detonator, two Baofeng handsets, eight tear gas smoke shells (CS), four 12-bore empty cartridges, three 7.62 mm rounds (SLR), four casings of AK rifle, two INSAS casings, three SLR casings, three IEDs weighing around 8 kg, one camouflage T-shirt, one pair of jungle boot and one BP vest in Singtom village area under Sugnu police station; one each 7.62 mm sniper rifle (modified), MA-3 MKII (Myanmar origin), SBBL, stun shell (normal), tear smoke shell soft nose (LR), tear smoke shell (chilli), tear smoke shell (normal), Baofeng wireless set, two 9mm pistols with magazine, three 7.62mm rounds, four .303 rounds, three 5.56mm INSAS rounds, four 9mm rounds, two 36 HE hand grenades and five smoke grenades from Mayang Imphal Bengoon Yangbi Sagaisabi farm; one each AK-47 rifle with magazine, local made pistol with magazine, Bolt rifle (local made), two pompi, two grenades, Mine (7-9 Kg) with cortex and detonator, 17 pompi bombs, two handmade bombs, loose PEK (200g), two 9mm rounds, five 7.62mm rounds and 10 rounds of SLR from Leisabithol area under Jiribam district; one each AK-56 rifle with two magazines, INSAS rifle with four magazines, 7.62 mm MAS sniper rifle with magazine and scope, 12 bore DBBL, SLR magazine with 20 rounds, .22 rifle with magazine, MG-2 under-barrel grenade, stun grenade, MK III A2 grenade, two bayonets, 30 AK rifle rounds, 40 INSAS rifle rounds, ten 7.62 sniper rounds, six 12 bore ammunition, two .22 rounds, four 40 mm MGL HE grenades, four stun shells, one 500 gram TNT slab and three Baofeng wireless sets with chargers from Bungpa Khullen village under Thoubal Dam police station; and three improvised mortar, two musket rifles, one damaged magazine, one spotter scope, two binoculars, one monocular sight, one helmet, five bullet proof vests and two rifle slings from SL Zougam under Machi police station.
On the other-hand, PRO IGAR (S) informed that in a series of coordinated operations conducted on February 18 and 19, Assam Rifles in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies in Imphal East and Tengnoupal districts, apprehended a UG cadre, destroyed underground bunkers and recovered weapons comprising automatics, pistols, lathode guns, improvised mortars; IEDs, ammunition and warlike stores.
In a release, the PRO also informed based on specific intelligence inputs of presence of cadres, arms and ammunition in general area of Khabeisoi Maning Leikai in Imphal East district, Assam Rifles and Manipur police launched an operation on Tuesday and apprehended an individual, who on initial questioning confirmed that he was a cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) People's War Group(PWG).
On the same day, on receipt of intelligence of movement of cadres at SL Zougam and Point 1683 in Tengnoupal district, Assam Rifles cordoned the area and after a thorough search through thick foliage discovered three bunkers and destroyed them.
The troops also recovered ammunition, IEDs and war like stores.
The PRO further stated that on Wednesday, on receipt of intelligence of movement of cadres with arms and ammunition on tri-junction of Mao-jang village, in Tengnoupal district, Assam Rifles established a mobile vehicle check post.
In the meantime, the alerted troops noticed a motorcycle trying to evade the check post, the personnel immediately chased after it however the rider abandoned the vehicle and fled.
A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of AK-56 rifle, a 9mm pistol, a 40mm lathode gun, grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
The apprehended person and the recovered items have been handed over to the police, the PRO informed.
In another operation in Imphal East, district on Thursday, police arrested an active cadre of the Pambei-led UNLF from Chingyang Lairembi Ima Keithel, Ngariyan Ching near a waiting shed under Andro police station.
The arrested person, identified as Hemam Bebeshwor Singh alias Paming (30), was reportedly involved in extorting money from the general public, government officials, and private firms to raise party funds.
Items recovered from his possession included a backpack, camouflage combat dress consisting of two shirts and a pant, a pair of military boots, two mobile phones, and a wallet.
In another operation in Bishnupur district, security forces arrested an active cadre of the banned KCP (City Meitei) group from Ibudhou Khonghaba Thangjing Laikon, Ngaikhong Khullen under Bishnupur PS.
The individual, identified as Khaidem Benarjit Singh alias Amuba (28), was found in possession of two mobile phones and an Aadhaar card.
