Bishnupur, April 19 2025:
Locals of the area and guardians of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya (NSCBAV) located at Kumbi Laingoubi staged a protest strongly opposing the relocation of the residential school.
In compliance with an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, personnel of Kumbi police along with the BSF, officials from the Education Department, SDPO Moirang and Executive Magistrate attempted to "forcefully" remove furniture from the residential school this morning.
Strongly condemning the incident, a protesting guardian said that the agitation was launched in response to today's move.
Owing to the conflict, Class X students of the residential school were temporarily moved to Kumbi Central High School by the Government.
However, the Bishnupur DC's order to move the infrastructural materials from the residential school in a bid to "shift" the school to Kumbi Central High School is unacceptable to the people, she added.
The guardian appealed to the concerned authority to ensure that students of the residential school are allowed to continue their education here in peace, quash any move to relocate the school and build a permanent building for the NSCBAV in its allocated plot.
The State officials and security personnel team held a long talk with the guardians.
There was no information of furniture being moved from the school at the time of filing this report.
