Nationwide Watershed Yatra outreach campaign heid

Senapati, February 15 2025: Senapati district also joined the nationwide Watershed Yatra outreach campaign under Watershed Development Component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana-PMKSY 2.0 on Friday at Kathikho village local ground marking a significant step towards the conservation of soil and water in the region.

The programme was attended by Senapati deputy commissioner Mamoni Doley, alongside with.DRDA, Senapati project director PP Ronald, project officer William Maram and executive engineer S Pangniba.

The event was participated by various watershed communities of Katomei Makeng, Maram Makha Sagei, Emefiithumai, and Willong Khullen, making it a collective effort for the Watershed Yatra Campaign.

During the function, DC Mamoni Doley administered the Watershed pledge and encouraged the participants to take an active role in spreading the crucial message of water conservation, which has now become a global concern.

She also stressed on the importance of individual and collective effort to ensure sustainable water resources.

PP Ronald, in his speech, emphasised the importance of protecting the rich biodiversity that Senapati is blessed with.

He highlighted the need of collaboration for the sustainable management of soil and water from every individual.

He said that the task of safeguarding these precious resources must be a shared responsibility, involving every citizen of the district for a sustainable future.

As part of the ongoing watershed Yatra campaign, horticultural tree saplings were distributed to project villages followed by a watershed march.

Participants were also engaged in tree plantation activities at the venue, reinforcing the commitment to protecting soil and water in the district.
