Noney district observes 133rd Patriots' Day

As in different parts of the state, Noney district administration observed the Patriots' Day on Tuesday at the DC's Office Complex, Noney.
The district administration observed the auspicious function in remembrance of Yubraj Bir Tikendrajit Singh and Thangal General for their bravery, sacrifice and love of their motherland.
It may be mentioned that the Patriots' Day is commemorated every year on the 13th of August in Manipur to pay tribute and honour the martyrs of the Anglo- Manipuri War, 1891 for their bravery and love of their motherland.
The war was a short armed conflict between the British Colonial Forces and the dissenting royal princes of the then Manipur Kingdom.
Yubraj Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General were hanged on this day at Pheidabung presently known as Bir Tikendrajit Park in Imphal for waging war against the British Empire.
Noney DC Sharath Chandra Arroju and SP Namsadai Peter led in paying of floral tributes to the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General.
The programme was also attended by ADC Stiff Khapudang, SDCs, DLOs, students and locals.
Meanwhile, a full dress rehearsal in connection with the 78 th Independence Day Celebration was held at the DC's Office Complex.
