Imphal, June 13 2025: Hiyangthang Apunba Meira Paibi staged a sit-in protest demanding the release of Arambai Tenggol leader Asem Kanan today at Hiyangthang Keithel.

Speaking by the sideline of the protest, one Huirem Thoibi maintained that AT emerged as a group to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur when the Government failed to perform its duties.

If AT members have been arrested for taking part in the ongoing conflict, she said that the authorities concerned should arrest the meira paibis too.

Condemning Kanan's arrest by the CBI, she demanded his unconditional release on behalf of Hiyangthang Apunba Meira Paibi.

Meanwhile, World Meetei Council has condemned the arrest and detainment of Meetei village volunteers by the Indian and Manipur Government and called for the establishment of a "Meetei Regiment".

In a press release, WMC also urged the Government to refrain from banning internet services every time a people's movement erupts in the State.
