Advocacy meeting on child policy conducted

Imphal, August 12 2024:
Wide Angle in collaboration with Child Rights & You (CRY) organised an advocacy meeting on "Manipur State Policy for Children, 2020" at the conference hall of Wide Angle on Monday.
The meeting was attended by various stakeholders including members from Child Welfare Committee (CWC), NGOs, Juvenile Justice Board (JDB), District Child Protection Units (DCPU and Special Juvenile Police Units (SJPU) .
Wide Angle secretary Montu Ahanthem, in his key note address, recalled that drafting of the policy started way aback in 2016 based on a three-tiered protective framework for children which is ameliorative and restorative measure, strengthening and building convergence for systems and services and promoting mental health and psychosocial recovery.
According to a statement of Wide Angle, objective of the meeting was to discuss and share opinions on immediate implementation of the 2020 policy which was gazette notified for public opinion on the November 12, 2020 but has been pending cabinet clearance since then.
It was also attended by Manipur Commission for Protection Child Rights (MCPCR) chairperson Keisham Pradipkumar, Wide Angle advisor Sharat Kumar Sharma, Imphal West CWC former chairperson Thiyam Rajkeshor and CRY project coordinator Jenita Rajkumari among others.
