MEELAL treasures introduction of MM in Assam

Informing that the Assam legislative assembly session conducted in February approved introduction of Meetei Mayek in educational institutions, Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillol Apunba Lup (MEELAL) lauded the Assam government while expressing elation that efforts of the Lup and Manipuris living in Assam are bearing fruition.
In a release, MEELAL informed that Assam SCERT Department director Dr Nirani Devi issued an order on June 5 to translate six Bengali script books taught in Class 1 and 2 in Assam Manipuri schools to Meetei Mayek.
It further sent instructions to presidents and secretaries of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Assam and Manipur Language Protection Co-ordinating Committee to prepare Meetei Mayek text books within October and November.
Subsequently, a meeting was convened at Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Assam Marung Shanglen located in Silchar on Thursday.
MEELAL also convened a meeting presided over by its president Khaidem Ingocha at its head office on Friday lauding the initiatives of Assam Government taken up for development of Manipuri language and script, the release added.
