Arms, ammunition recovered; two UGs arrested

Imphal, April 09 2025: Security forces recovered large cache of arms and ammunition during search operation in Yaralpat and Tokpaching areas on Wednesday, and arrested two cadres of PREPAK (Pro) and KCP (PWG) on Tuesday.

According to police report, a combined team of special commando and 8th IR (CDO) battalion recovered cache of arms and ammunition from Yaralpat under Porompat police station during a search operation.

The recoveries include a .303 rifle and 16 rounds, two Lathode 40 mm guns, seven 7.62 mm rounds, 11 7.62x 39 mm rounds, five 9 mm rounds, six .38 rounds, 13 .303 casings, one .303 charger, one .303 magazine, a small carbine with magazine, two 9mm pistols with a magazine, three grenade detonators, two 36 HE hand grenades, one Lathode 40 mm, two illumination rounds and other warlike stores.

The seized items have been handed over to Porompat police station for further legal action.

On the other hand, a combined team of Kakching district police commando, Arong Nongmaikhong police station, Army, BSF and Assam Rifles recovered arms and ammunition concealed in three sacks during search operation at Tokpaching Moirangkhom foothills, Kakching district on Wednesday.

The recovered items included two carbines, one .303 rifle with magazine, one single barrel gun, two double barrel guns, one modified sniper rifle, one modified 9mm pistol with magazine, three 81mm mortar shells, 11 tear smoke shells, two 4 kg IEDs, three 12 bore rounds, two 36 HE hand grenades, 20 .303 rounds, 13 empty cases, two detonators, 30 7.62mm casings, nine BP vests and other war like stores.

Meanwhile, security forces arrested one active member of proscribed PREPAK (Pro) from Sagolmang Bazar CHC under Sagolmang police station on Tuesday.

The captive has been identified as Sapam Sagar Singh alias Satongba (30) .

A mobile phone was also seized from him.

Security forces also arrested one active cadre of KCP (PWG) identified as Nanao Singh alias Kokngang alias Bungo of Loi-tang Khullen Maning Leikai from the same locality.

He is charged of involvement in extortion from government offices in Imphal area.

Two mobile phones were also recovered from him.
