Three shops, warehouse gutted in fire

At least three shops including a pharmacy, mobile repairing outlet and a grocery wholesaler cum warehouse belonging to three siblings were gutted in a fire incident that broke out Moijing Khongok on Friday around 12.30 am.
The fire, believed to have been caused by electric short circuit, damaged items worth around Rs 57 lakh.
While the fire services team arrived with fire tenders and managed to extinguish the flames, the inferno caused substantial damages to the shops and godown.
According to the grocery owner Md Yunush (27), the fire incident charred medicines worth around Rs 10 lakh worth stored in the pharmacy owned by his elder brother Md Anish (31), around Rs 40 lakh worth of items in his wholesale grocery and godown, and around Rs 5 lakh of goods kept in his younger brother Md Adrish's (24) mobile repairing centre with around Rs 2 lakh in cash reduced to ashes.
As such, he urged the government to extend assistance to the family.
Yunush further appreciated the fire service personnel who arrived in time and prevented the flames from spreading to adjoining structures.
