Imphal, August 04 2025:
A man allegedly involved in a recent road accident at Mayang Langjing Bazar has vehemently denied claims that he assaulted an auto-rickshaw driver, calling the accusation baseless.
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club on Monday, Thoudam Romesh of Mayang Langjing Taning asserted that the incident occurred on July 25 .
He recounted that he and his wife were returning home from the hospital with their two-and-a-half-year-old child when their vehicle collided with an auto-rickshaw driven by Kh Bhogeshwar.
The auto swerved and struck his Activa, causing all three occupants of his two-wheeler to fall, he said.
Romesh said that when they got up, they saw Bhogeshwar sitting inside the auto.
Out of anger, he was about to hit the driver, but a passenger restrained him.
Bystanders also intervened, and the matter was settled on the spot.
He maintained that he never struck Bhogeshwar, nor did he speak disrespectfully to local Meira Paibis.
Romesh added that any injury sustained by the auto driver had no connection to him, and the accusation of assault and injury to the driver was entirely false.
