Voluntary Blood Donation Day observed

E-pao Tengbang Lup, Regular Voluntary Blood Donors Group, Humanity for Society and Indian Red Cross Society, Imphal East District in collaboration with JNIMS blood centre and State Blood Transfusion Council Manipur observed National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 2024 at the JNIMS Centre on Tuesday.
In all 70 persons donated blood during the observance held under the theme "Celebrating 20 years of giving: Thank You Blood Donors".
Speaking at the event, E-Pao Tengbang Lup Health and Environment secretary Kangabam Sanathoi Meitei pointed out that donating blood not only helps the patients but also benefits the donors as periodical donation aids in maintaining good health.
Urging everyone to inculcate habit of donating blood regularly to help those in need, he said that all healthy adults can donate blood every three months and women every four months.
In Churachandpur district, the National Voluntary Blood Donors Day 2024 was observed under the theme 'Donate your blood for a reason: Let the reason be life' at Churachandpur district hospital on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by Churachandpur CMO Dr Vanlallungi, district hospital's medical superintendent Dr Tinglonlei and deputy medical superintendent Dr Ng Senboi as presidium members.
As a part of the observance, gifts were presented to eight donors who set the record for donating bloods for the 15th time each.
The National Blood Donation Day-2024 was also organised jointly by State Health Society, NHM and Directorate of Health Services at the election counting hall of Thoubal DC Complex, on Tuesday with Thoubal DC Ahanthem Subhash and CMO Dr Y Nokul as chief guest and president respectively while district hospital blood centre senior specialist Dr L Dorendro and State Nodal Officer, NHM, Manipur Dr Dayalaxmi were the guests of honour.
Over 20 people, who donated blood on the occasion, were presented token gift in recognition of their voluntary service.
Speaking at the event, DC Subhash noted that compared to the past when there used to few blood donors, subsequently creating issues for those in need, many individuals are volunteering to donate blood to help save lives of fellow humans.
He highlighted that donating blood is a vital act of saying lives and urged everyone to adopt the habit of donating blood regularly.
