AR rebuts allegation of blaming it for state crisis

Imphal, May 31 2023: Assam Rifles has rebutted the news report published in local dailies wherein Indigenous Peo-ple's Front Manipur advi-sor Jagat Thoudam briefed media persons at Manipur Press Club and blamed the Assam Rifles for all the may-hem unfolding in Manipur since May 3.In a release, PRO IGAR (5) mentioned that the report in the form of a list of questions pointed towards the readers was based on fabricated el-ements of imagination with clear intention of defaming the security forces in gener-al and IGAR (South) in par-ticular and hence merits to be rebutted in right earnest.

The news item apart from being 'ex parte' and lacking any objectivity, is out-rightly baseless, de-famatory and apparently aimed at spreading hatred against the AR and to incite animosity between the two communities, it added.

The release stressed that in these trying times in Manipur, nothing could be more important than the need to comply with journalistic ethics and air-ing stories with facts sans fabricated sweeping alle-gations/assessment, some-thing which this article is riddled with.
