Missing students traced, handed over to parents

Sixteen class X students of Peace and Freedom Academy, Thoubal Haokha, reported missing from their school boarding on Monday, were traced by members of Arambai Tenggol Unit 1 QRT mobile team latter in day and subsequently handed over to their respective parents.
The missing case came to light after a report was filed by Academy's principal Jotin Salam at Thoubal police station that whereaboutsof 16 students remain unknown since 4 am Monday.
However, based on information provided by a truck driver that some students were spotted at Lishamlok village in Senapati district near Kaina Laiphamlen under Imphal East district, mobile team of the AT QRT rushed to the area around 1:30 pm and brought them back.
After the students were given counselling at the AT Unit 1 office, they were handed over to the school authority and their parents who took them to Thoubal police station.
Speaking to media persons regarding the matter, principal Jotin disclosed that after he filed a missing complaint, Private School Development Council (PSDC), Thoubal members and AT Unit 1 safely brought back the students from Lishamlqk to Thoubal police station.
A meeting Was held between the school authorities and parents of the students at the police station to clear the misunderstanding and an agreement was reached, he informed.
Mentioning that the students are young and immature and they may have taken the step in the heat of the moment, Jotin further said that the school has decided to let them continue to stay and study at the school after settling the matter with their parents.
According to sources, possibility of the students leaving the school after some teachers reprimanded them in connection with preparation for a school function could not be ruled out.
