V&AH urged to prevent ASF in state

Imphal, March 29 2025:
Manipur Progressive Pig Farmers' Association (MAPPFA) urged Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Services, Government of Manipur director to take up preventive and precautionary measures to prevent the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) virus in the state.
In a letter, MAPPFA secretary Ajai Irung-bam highlighted news reports of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Assam's Sonitpur district and Nagaland's Longleng district which were recently published in local dailies.
He urged the director to impose preventive and precautionary measures to check the import of pigs and other related livestock products from the affected states in order to protect the entire state from the virus which can potentially affect the livelihoods of marginalised farmers.
