WFI, MSP condole demise of Aribam Kumar

Writers' Forum, Imphal (WFI) and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad (MSP) have condoled the untimely demise of translator and critic Aribam Kumar Sharma.
In separate releases, WFI and MSP recalled that after serving as a lecturer in government colleges, Aribam Kumar retired as Directorate of Education (U) assistant director in 2001 and also served as presidents of Cultural Forum, Manipur and WFI besides being a general council member of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
Of his many works, he was awarded Sahitya Akademi Translation Prize 2003 and Manipur State Kala Akademi Award (Translation) for his book 'Numitki Taret Suba Sagol', a Manipuri translation of Hindi novel 'Suraj Satva Ghoda' by Dharamvir Bharati, honoured with Minaketan Ningshing Mana, Nongthombam Kunjamohan Translation Award 2021, Sahityabhushan (2022) awarded by MSP and Writer of the Year 2023 award presented by Naharol Sahitya Samiti.
Condolence meetings were held at WFI and MSP offices on Tuesday, during which two-minute silence was observed as mark of respect to the departed soul along with sharing the grief of the bereaved family.
