DC vows promotion of sports, support athletes

Bishnupur, February 27 2025:
Bishnupur district administration and Bishnupur District Olympic Association (BDOA) on Thursday felicitated eight medal winners, including one gold medallist from Bishnupur district, who participated in the 38th National Games, 2025, held in Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 14 .
The felicitation ceremony, held at the conference hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex, celebrated the outstanding achievements of the athletes across various events in different categories.
The medallists honoured were H Robinson Singh (gold in 52 kg category, Wushu), Th Jodhajit (silver in 85 kg category, Wushu), A Sanayaima (silver in 65 kg category, Wushu), O Bidyapati Chanu (bronze in 56 kg category, Wushu), Haobijam Tendenthoi (bronze in W2x2000m, Rowing), Thangjam Priya Devi (bronze in W2x2000m, Rowing), Chinglemba Singh (bronze in 51 kg category, Boxing), and Lamabam Nilam Devi (bronze in 55 kg category, Weightlifting).
The medal winners were presented with Lengyan, bouquets, and cash awards by Bishnupur DC Lourembam Bikram, and district youth affairs and sports officer Yumkhaibam Ibeyaima Devi.
The DC commended the athletes' achievements, noting that the felicitation was a step towards motivating young talents.
He praised the dedication of the athletes and the contributions of sports associations in the district.
"As a district administrator, it is important to Recognise the strengths of our district and work towards them.
Bishnupur has an abundance of talented athletes who are eager to learn and grow.
It is the responsibility of the district administration to continue providing them with the support they need to reach their full potential," he said.
The DC reaffirmed the district administration's commitment to supporting sports and athletes in the district in the years to come.
He further added that celebrating these athletes not only highlights their individual accomplishments but also serves as a testimony to the promising future of sports in the district.
DYASO Yumkhaabam Ibeyaima expressed her admiration for the athletes' commitment and achievements.
She acknowledged the challenges each athlete had overcome and emphasised that their success was the result of discipline and dedication.
"Despite the obstacles, these athletes have shown great determination, and their achievements inspire us all," she remarked.
She also highlighted the importance of grassroots-level support in identifying and nurturing more sporting talent for the future.
She urged all stakeholders to come together to create opportunities for more athletes from the district to shine on national and international stages.
The event was also attended by DIT district manager Oinam Prashanta, officials, and members of the Bishnupur District Olympic Association.
