MSPC observes World Pharmacist Day

Manipur State Pharmacy Council observed World Pharmacist Day under the theme "Pharmacist: Meeting Global Health Needs" at IMA hall, Lamphelpat, here, on Wednesday.
The celebration was attended by Health Services director Dr O Sanahanbi Devi and Manipur State Pharmacy Council president Rk Basu mani Singh as chief guest and president respectively while Council's former registrar cum member secretary N Rimotkumar Mdetei, senior pharmacist Ahongshangbam Manihar Singh and registrar Soubam Brajakeshor Singh were the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Rk Basumani explained that World Pharmacist Day is observed to commemorate the formation of Federation of International Pharmacists on this day in 2009 by representatives of 144 countries including individual practitioners, industrial pharmacists and professionals from pharmaceutical companies in Turkey.
Stating that the day is commemorated every year under different themes, president Basumani expressed that as new medications are being produced and marketed by pharmaceutical companies, pharmacists have a vital role to aid process.
Further stating that care and vigilance of even a specialist doctor and a nurse cannot guarantee recovery of a patient in case of lapses in proper administration of medications, he maintained that pharmacists serve as a crucial link between doctors and patients.
Meanwhile, Directorate of Health Services' drugs inspector Yanglem Romen Singh, who received the 'Best Drugs Control Officer Award (State) 2024' at the Annual Conference of Drugs Control Officers (I) Welfare Association in Mumbai was also felicitated during the function.
