IBSD holds curtain raiser event for IISF- 2024

Imphal, October 24 2024:
Institute of Bio-re-sources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) on Thursday organised a curtain raiser programme for the upcoming India International Science Festival-2024 (IISF-2024) to be held in Guwahati, Assam from November 30 to December 3 .
The main theme of IISF-2024 will be 'Transforming India into a Science and Technology Driven Global Manufacturing Hub' for Viksit Bharat 2047 .
In a release, IBSD, Imphal scientist-E Dr S Indira Devi informed that the programme was attended by Science & Technology minister Thongam Biswajit, IBSD director professor Pulok Kumar Mukherjee, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) former DG Dr Shekhar C Mande and Ramakrishna Mission School, Uripok principal Swami Devapriyananda, among others.
During the event, professor PK Mukherjee highlighted various research activities of IBSD for the promotion of bio-resources and development of bioeconomy of the region.
He mentioned that IBSD is working on different bio-resources and traditional practices of North East region (NER) .
In his address, Dr Shekhar commended IBSD for organising the curtain raiser of IISF 2024 while conveying that the upcoming Guwahati Festival would provide a platform for scientists, scholars, and entrepreneurs of NER to explore the opportunities.
According to the IBSD release, minister Th Biswajit also inaugurated a workshop on entrepreneurship development from mushroom cultivation, and commended initiatives of the IBSD for the development of entrepreneurs and startups in NER.
The release further stated that during the programme, prizes were distributed to the winners of drawing competition on BioE3 policy organised by IBSD for students from different schools and colleges of Imphal.
The training programme was attended by more than 30 progressive farmers of Imphal engaged in mushroom cultivation.
The function was participated by officials, teachers and students of different Imphal-based educational institutions, and scientists and scholars of IBSD and other centres, it added.
