International conference on Popular Education held

Imphal, July 23 2025:
Along with organising an International Conference on Popular Education jointly by Directorate of Regional Indian Languages and Research (DRILR), Manipur International University and Apunba Ireipak Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS), a felicitation function of recipients of various awards including the Prof Dr R Subbakrishna Memorial Community Linguist Award, was held at Classic Hotel, North AOC on Wednesday.
The function was attended by RIMS Obstetrics and Gynecology Department former head professor Dr Chanam Manglem Singh and Manipur International University directorate of Regional Indian Languages and Research (DRILR) dean professor Dr Thokchom Chandramani Singh as chief guest and president respectively while Manipur State Population Commission member professor Dr Nabakanta Sharma, CAU Education Extension deputy director professor Dr Thokchom Robindro and AIMS president, Longjam Thonglen Meitei were the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Chandramani highlighted the legacy of Prof Dr R Subbakrishna, recalling his significant contributions in reviving endangered and classical languages.
The memorial award was instituted in 2010 in his honour, he added.
As part of the felicitation, ISTV senior reporter Urikhinbam Indraraj was conferred the Prof Dr R Subbakrishna Memorial journalist Award 2025 for his contributions to journalism, cultural understanding, social awareness and the promotion of human values.
Elite TV chief editor lit Ningomba was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award 2025 for his distinguished service in the field of journalism.
Several other individuals were also felicitated during the event for their achievements across different fields.
