Weapons, explosives recovered

Imphal, August 18 2024: Security forces recovered weapons and explosives during search operations carried out in various places on Sunday.

According to a police report, a combined team of Thoubal district police and 5/9 Gorkha Rifles conducted search operation in Uyok Ching Leirongthel Pitra under Nongpok Sekmai police station from 4.10 am till 6.10 am Sunday.

During the operation, the team recovered one each 9mm SMG with magazine, 12-Bore Single Barrel Gun, 9mm pistol, and .32 pistol, two each tube launchers, MK II A2 Grenades and detonator, six HE-36 hand grenades, three arming rings, one Chinese Hand Grenade, 65 rounds, five Tear Smoke Shell soft nose (SR), one Stun grenade, one Helmet BP Patka and a Walkie Talkie (Baofeng) set with charger.

The seized items have been handed over to Nongpok Sekmai PS for further legal action.

Another team of security forces conducted search operation at Mission Veng, Kangpokpi district and recovered one 7.62mm SLR with magazine, one Bolt Action Rifle, two 12-inch Single Bore Barrel Guns, six rounds, 10 cases and two HE-36 Hand Grenades without detonator.

Meanwhile, by a joint team of Kakching district police and 126 BSF A-Company conducted a search operation from 6.45am till 7.45 am Sunday at Hiyanglam Hiranmei under Hiyanglam PS.

In all, 46 houses were searched and 110 people verified.

Another combined team of Churachandpur district police, 5 Sikh Regiment and G/10 BSF carried out a search operation at New Ningthiching under Churachandpur PS from 8am till 10am Sunday.

Altogether 20 houses were searched and 95 people verified.

However, there is no report of any arrest or recovery of weapon.
