AR honours brave-hearts at Shangshak village

Imphal, June 17 2024:
Assam Rifles of IGAR(S) on Monday organised a wreath hying ceremony at Shangshak village in Ukhrul district to honour three Bravehearts of the unit, who had laid down their lives in service of the nation on June 17, 2018 .
According to a statement of PRO IGAR (S), on June 17, 2018, an area domination column of 40 Assam Rifles was ambushed by insurgents in Mon district of Nagaland.
The troops retaliated and during the ensuing gunfight, havildar Fateh Singh Negi, rifleman Alom Hussain and rifleman Sachin Kumar, sustained severe injuries and later succumbed to their injuries, thereby making the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
The ceremony included a wreath hying ceremony and a minute of silence to remember the brave deeds of the martyrs.
Assam Rifles also reached out to family members of the Bravehearts on this occasion and enquired about their well-being.
A representative from the unit visited family members of the Bravehearts and presented a token of remembrance to them, the statement added.
