Chandel Traffic Control Unit inaugurated

An inauguration ceremony of the newly established Traffic Control Unit of Chandel district was held on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in the district's ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and traffic regulation.
The inaugurated was held with Chandel SP Babitarani Swain as chief guest, and Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) president Db Thamdok Francis and Chandel Bazar Board chairman Jb Angam Anal as the guests of honour.
It was also attended by officers of Chandel police, prominent women leaders, members of Naga Students' Union Chandel (NSUC), and students from various educational institutions.

Speaking on the occasion, SP Babitarani commended the unwavering efforts of the district's police officers in bringing the Traffic Control Unit to fruition.
She acknowledged the challenges posed by the limited infrastructure and resources in Chandel but emphasised that dedication, innovation, and teamwork enabled the department to build and operationalize the unit effectively.
Addressing the students gathered, the SP said: "Even with very limited resources, if we stand united and remain committed, we can overcome all obstacles and achieve excellence" .
Other speakers also emphasised the importance of discipline and routine in traffic policing, highlighted the need for traffic personnel to remain vigilant and active even beyond regular hours to ensure safety and order within the town, appreciated the establishment of the unit and urged the police team to take strict action against individuals operating vehicles without valid driving licenses, thereby reinforcing the need for responsible driving within the community.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Traffic Control Unit officer-in-charge ASI Moijairung, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, community leaders, officers, and students for their presence and support.
