Seminar on bio-gas plants organised

Manipur Renewal Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) organised a one-day seminar cum orientation and awareness programme on "Small Bio-Gas Plants: Transforming Waste into clean energy", at Sangai Hall of Hotel Imphal on Friday.
The programme was sponsored by Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNER) under Information and Public Awareness (I&PA).
Speaking on the occasion, MANIREDA director.N Praveen informed that as the bio-gas movement seem to be slowing down over the years, the National Bio Gas Mission is being initiated in the state.
He informed that around 150 biogas plants would be installed by March, of which 75 plants are of one cubic metre, while the other 75 are two cubic metres.
He continued that in collaboration with IIT Guwahati, a leak proof pre-fabricated plastic was introduced.
Praveen further revealed that the materials are easily transportable and thus, around 150 plants would be installed, with 45 per cent of the expense of the total unit to be funded by the Ministry.
Another 30 per cent of the share will be subsidised by the state government, while the rest is to be borne by the beneficiaries.
Stating that most of the contents taught in the workshop were application based, he informed that IIT Guwahati and the installing officers of the firms concerned will share relevant information on the matter.
In all, 100 beneficiaries attended the workshop.
