Thoubal, July 15 2024:
Reacting to the state cabinet's decision taken on July 12 regarding the inter-district transfer of VDF personnel, Thoubal District VDF Welfare Association has stated that the cabinet should prioritise increment of the honorarium before implementing any orders related to transferring of VDFs.
In a statement, the Association expressed that the state cabinet should have discussed the need to enhance honorarium of VDF personnel, considering the huge responsibilities they are shouldering.
Had the government addressed this issue, VDF members would be more than willing to sacrifice their lives in the line of duty to protect the lives and property of the people.
Unfortunately, there was no mention of an honorarium increase during the cabinet meeting, rued the Association.
The statement also maintained that if the state government expects the VDF to make such sacrifices during any crisis situation including the present one, it must recognise the value of their lives and stop portraying the VDFs as duty negligent.
The government should ensure that any decision to increase the honorarium is made before issuing any orders related to the inter-district transfer of VDFs, suggested the Association while asserting the VDF of Thoubal district will fully support any agitation launched by All Manipur VDF Employees' Welfare Association if the government undermines interest of the VDF personnel.
