Imphal, January 14 2025:
Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) lauded Kabui Union for celebrating the Gaan Ngai festival in a low-key manner in view of the present unsettling situation in Manipur.
In a release, IPAK pointed out that Manipur has been grappling with a dire situation as Kuki militants launched attacks since May 3, 2023 to carve out a separate land from the state.
Many lives have lost and many rendered homeless, forcing them to take shelter at relief camps.
In the midst of such troubling situation, the low- key celebration of the state-level Gaan Ngai festival, organised by Kabui Union Manipur, without dances and songs is highly appreciated by the association representing Meetei community, the release said.
Stating that the attacks launched by the foreigners are not only against the Meetei community but against all the indigenous communities, the release asserted, while adding that it is the responsibility of every indigenous community to fight against it.
