Inter-district boundary reorganisation committee formed

Imphal, April 12 2025:
A public consultative meeting of people comprising tribes from Rongmei (Zeliangrong), Kharam, Aimol, Inpui and Chiru living under 51-Saitu (ST) assembly constituency (AC) of Kangpokpi district erstwhile Sadar Hills and 57-Henglep (ST) AC of Churachandpur district was held on April 11, 2025 at Longmai-3 old church hall and formed 'Inter-District Boundaries Re-Organisation Demand Committee for Administrative Convenience' to address the sufferings faced by the people in the assembly constituencies for decades.
The meeting was attended by RNCM former president-Th Pamei, former ZYF president Titus Kamei, former AZSU president Tingenlung Pamei, Longmai Area Village Authority Council chairman D Adai, Longmai Village Authority chairman Kasaigai Gangmei, Merger Committee chairman G Agang and RBCC relief and development secretary Dimgong Rongmei among other village chiefs, elders, leaders of different tribes, senior leaders, social activists, youth and students' leaders.
The meeting - which is a follow up of the previous meeting held on March 25, 2025 at the office of Longmai Bazar Board - deliberated the administrative inconveniences including pursuing administrative redressal, judicial issues, developmental activities and moreover lack of political empowerment and several factors for the people of the above mentioned tribesmen living the two assembly constituencies.
Considering the hard facts and circumstances, the public consultative meeting approved formation of the committee with Th Pamei as convenor, Adim Malangmei, Rengenson and DN Akhup as co-convenors; Gailanchung Kamei as secretary; Kh Forceson and Phillip Gangmei as joint secretaries The public meeting entrusted and authorised the members of the committee to effect expansion and induction of more members into it from all villages at the earliest possible for taking up necessary steps and appropriate measures to move ahead and achieve the aspiration of the people.
