Maring text books for class IX and X launched

Maring Literature Society (MLS) on Saturday launched text books in the indigenous Maring language for class IX and X for the curriculum of Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) at an event held at Khukarthil Community Hall at Machi Block in Tengnoupal district.
The event was attended by DC Tamenglong L Angshim Dangshawa as the chief guest, SDO Tousem, Tamenglong district Paul Nangsa as the president, Maring Uparap Assembly (MUA) president K Yaima Maring and National Health Mission-AYUSH state nodal officer K Benedict Maring as guests of honour along with former minister Korungthang, Manipur department of linguistics, dean of humanity S Imoba, MU department of English and cultural studies HOD and Internal Quality Assessment additional director I Gambhir, Anal Literature Society president L Wolring and its member BS Khelring, Maring Napuiya Yinglam president Ch Hoinu as the special guests.
As part of the event, five books in Maring language for BSEM curriculum, namely class IX course book 'Hokaar-I', literature book 'Chaanlam-I', class X course book 'Hokaar-II', literature book 'Chaanlam-II', literature book 'Chanlaam-II' and a combined grammar and composition book for both class IX and X 'Tloupooilam' .
During the event, Maring Literature Society secretary L Solomon Dangsa said Maring language was recognised as Manipur Regional Language in the state cabinet meeting held on March 27, 2015 .
Shortly after, the commissioner of Education (S), on April 7, 2015, gave green lit the Maring language to be taught in class I to VIII, he added.
He continued that on October 11, 2016 Chandel DC Bobby Waikhom published the Maring text book for class I to VIII with in collaboration with Health and Family Welfare, GAD and CADA former minister D Korungthang, who provided fund of Rs 3,70,000 .
The publication of the Maring text books was supported by many individuals and Maring village bodies, he conveyed.
L Solomon also mentioned that the publication of the Maring text books for class IX and X was made possible by the support of teachers of the department concerned of Manipur University, BSEM chairman, secretary and other officials.
Further, the committee will continue to publish Maring text books for class XI and XII, he assured.
