Road safety equipment distributed

As part of the efforts to enhance road safety and traffic management across Manipur, Transport secretary Michael Achom and director Nivedita Lairenlakpam distributed road safety equipment to superintendents of police of Imphal West and Imphal East districts, and Traffic Control Police Wing, in a function held at Manipur State transport (MST) complex on Wednesday.
Speaking at the function, Michael Achom called for coordinated efforts between law enforcement agencies and the public to promote a culture of road safety and follow traffic regulations.
He informed that the equipment distributed included modern breath analysers, speed radar guns, reflective jackets, traffic cones, LED batons, barricades, and other critical tools required for effective enforcement and safer road environments.
These items were procured under the Manipur Road Safety Fund with the objective of strengthening on-ground capabilities of the traffic police and reducing accidents on busy roadways.
As per the E-Challan Report (2024-2025), the Transport Department and Traffic Control Police Wing issued 19,092 challan and collected a total of Rs 27.10 lakh.
The ceremony was also attended by senior officials from the Transport Department, Manipur Police, and Traffic Police Wing.
