Imphal, June 03 2025:
In view of the severe flooding triggered by incessant rainfall and its adverse impact on the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) campus, the hospital has been temporarily closed until further notice.
The closure follows an emergency meeting held on Tuesday, and has been taken in the interest of the safety of patients, healthcare workers, and hospital infrastructure.
According to a public notice issued by JNIMS medical superintendent Prof Kh Lokeshwar, essential services have been disrupted due to flooding and the situation poses potential safety hazards.
As such, all emergency services, patient admissions, and non-essential medical services will remain suspended during this period.
The public have been requested to co-operate and avoid visiting the hospital until the restoration of normalcy.
Updates regarding the reopening and resumption of services will be issued based on the assessment and improvement of conditions.
The hospital authorities expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and appealed for public understanding and support.
Meanwhile, the Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MSACS) has notified that due to flooding in Imphal East district, particularly at JNIMS Hospital, patients receiving ART services from the ART Centre and Paediatric Centre of Excellence (PCoE), JNIMS, are facing difficulties in collecting ART drugs.
To address this, MSACS has arranged a temporary facility at the MACS Store, R&D Wing, Lamphelpat, where clients registered at the JNIMS centres can access ART services without interruption.
