Bishnupur, July 02 2025:
The district administration organised a meeting-cum-hands-on training programme on eDAR (Electronic Detailed Accident Report), an extension of the Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD), at the Bishnupur DC's conference hall on Wednesday.
The training conducted by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Bishnupur was attended by Bishnupur deputy commissioner Pooja Elangbam, NIC DIO RK Romita and additional SP (law and order) Y Premjit along with officials of police stations, Transport, PWD, Rural Engineering Department, Health and NHIDCL under Bishnupur district.
In her address, DC Pooja explained that the eDAR system will not only streamline the submission of detailed accident reports but also ensure a faster and more convenient claim settlement process for road accident victims.
She highlighted that the system entitles the victims cashless treatment within short notice, thereby easing the financial burden on the victims' families.
Emphasising the critical roles of police, transport, health, and roads/highways departments under iRAD, the DC exuded confidence that the training would help equip officials with a deeper understanding of the eDAR system, subsequently enabling them to play a key role in creating awareness among road accident victims about their entitlement to cashless treatment for up to Rs 1.5 lakh per person, per accident.
During the technical session, iRAD-NIC Manipur state rollout manager Lairenlakpam Nongdrenkhomba Meitei explained the operational aspects of the eDAR portal and Transaction Management System (TMS).
He said the system allows held officers to digitally capture accident scenes using geo-tagged photos, and record key details such as vehicle and driver information, as well as injury data.
This information is then shared in real-time with relevant administrative and judicial stakeholders.
Mentioning that this benefit applies to all accidents involving motor vehicles on any category of road, Nongdrenkhomba also elaborated that hospitals providing treatment under this scheme may hie for claims from the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund through the TMS.
The training also included interactive sessions and demonstrations on varied aspects of eDAR and TMS system.
