Voluntary blood donation camp held

A blood donation camp was conducted today at JNIMS Hospital, Porompat in support of "Free Blood for Children" scheme launched by Helping Hands for People, Manipur (HHP) on January 14 .
The camp was jointly organised by Helping Hands for People (HHP), Manipur; Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM), Manipur; School of Nursing, Porompat; Meitei Baptist Association (MBA) and Manipur Legislative Assembly staff.
A total of 32 donors donated their blood at today's camp.
Currently, the Free Blood for Children scheme is only available at JNIMS Hospital.
However, preparations are complete to extend this scheme to other hospitals and blood centres.
Helping Hands for People, Manipur has notified Government and private hospitals as well as blood centres to reach out to the organisation to avail the benefits of this scheme.
Additionally, Helping Hands for People, Manipur president Moirangthem Premjit Singh has extended heartfelt gratitude to the donors, organisations and institutes that sponsored the donors and well-wishers who provided assistance in procuring the items to organise the blood donation camp.
Meanwhile, Dr Surjit Konsam, HOD, JNIMS Blood Center termed the camp a huge success.
He also conveyed his thanks to everyone concerned for their support in organising the voluntary blood donation camp.
The Free Blood for Children scheme provides blood free of cost to paediatric patients between 0 and 12 years of age.
