Ukhrul DC visits victims

Ukhrul, October 30 2022:
Ukhrul deputy commissioner (DC) Krishna Kumar visited the families of the two women, who were swept away by the strong current of water on October 24 while crossing a river on the way home from their paddy held at Poi village, with relief materials including essential commodities like rice, oil, dal among others.
The DC consoled the two families and assured of every possible help from the side of the district administration in tracing the body of one of the missing victims.
He also said that any further grievances of the family members would be taken care of.
The incident happened when the two women went to their paddy field on that fateful day.
As the rain fell for the whole day in the area, when they returned, the water volume of the river swelled.
While attempting to cross, the swift current of the river swept both of them.
Of the two, the body of late RS Ngamreila was found in Tusom River after an intensive search by the state disaster response force team in collaboration with Ukhrul district police and local volunteers of nearby villages on October 27.However, the body of the second victim, RS Ramreila is yet to be found.
The DC was accompanied by SDO Ukhrul Suranjoy Maibam and DRDA PO Roland during the visit.
