House committee on new villages holds meet

Imphal, August 28 2024:
The House committee, formed as per a resolution taken during the 6th session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly to look into illegal immigrants entering the state and emergence of new villages, held its meeting on Wednesday at the assembly secretariat.
Details of the meeting chaired by water resources minister Awangbow Newmai and attended by other members of the committee, however, could not be accessed due to restriction as per the rules of the committee.
Notably, the committee having 12 members is required to submit a report to the House within three months.
At the time of formation of the committee, minister Letpao Haokip was named among the appointed members.
However, Letpao had issued a statement clarifying that he had not given approval on the appointment.
