Sit-in demands withdrawal of central forces

Khunnai Kanba Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (KHUKAMPAL) and Thoubal District United Women Development Organisation on Thursday organised a sit-in protest at Thoubal Wangmataba Devi Mandhop demanding removal of central forces and denouncing arrest of village volunteers.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, KHUKAMPAL president Waikhom Meipak urged the government to restore peace and normalcy in the state.
Condemning the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the president appealed to the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to visit the state and end the conflict.
She also denounced non-invitation of chief minister N Biren in the security meeting chaired by the Home Minister in Delhi recently.
Stating that village volunteers who have been defending the villages should not be arrested, Meipak reiterated the demand for withdrawal of central security forces from the state.
The protestors shouted slogans including 'We want peace', 'End the conflict', 'Remove central forces', 'We will defend our land' and 'Stop conducting combing operation' and 'Will not allow arrest of village volunteers' among others.
