NSUC questions transfer of Chandel SP

Imphal, February 27 2025: Naga Students' Union, Chandel (NSUC) has expressed shock and dismay over the appointment of Luikham Lanmiyo as the superintendent of police (SP) of Chandel district and his transfer within a month.

In a statement, NSUC highlighted that former SP Shivanand Surve was replaced by Luikham as per a transfer order dated January 28.However, on February 20, another order transferred Luikham Lanmiyo back to his previous posting as SP in-charge of Tamenglong, while Babitarani Swain was entrusted to take over charge as the Chandel SP.

NSUC questioned the authorities regarding the sudden transfer and posting within such a short span, stating that such moves diminish the credibility of the officers and the authorities concerned.

The students' body deemed Luikham Lanmiyo as a fit and well-qualified officer for the post, and stated that his abrupt transfer has left the people of Chandel, especially the student community, in shock.

Raising strong opposition, NSUC appealed to authorities concerned to re-appoint Luikham Lanmiyo as the SP of Chandel, emphasising that he had gained the trust of the people and understood the situation in the district.

The Union also urged the authorities to reinstate him for peace and prosperity in the district.
