NH-37 traffic likely to resume today

The prospect for restoration of NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam Road) has been pushed to Tuesday, as heavy rock debris continues to block the route till Monday.
The obstruction has persisted for the last five days of intensive efforts to remove the rockslides affecting the highway.
The road construction company, Ganpati Company, alongside another firm working on the opposite side, put in their optimum efforts to complete the clearance by Monday.
However, their progress has been hindered by continued rockslides and falling boulders.
Official reports indicated that completion of the clearance work is expected by Tuesday afternoon, to allow resumption of traffic on the route.
Meanwhile, more than 150 loaded trucks including oil tapkerS, LPG carriers, aviation turbine fuel carriers and other essential carriers remained stranded near Noney police check post.
As many as 50 loaded trucks are also stranded at Nungba and 70 trucks at Kambiron, Barak.
Moreover, 29 bogies of rice brought by Indian Railways at Khongsang Train Station are also yet to be unloaded waiting for empty trucks coming from Imphal.
A six-bogey train carrying only cements also arrived on Monday at Khongsang Train Station at 1:45 pm .
