Kamjong marts BBBP anniv with awareness camp

Kamjong district administration marked 10 years, of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme - an initiative launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) - by organising an awareness programme on skill development on Tuesday.
The event, organised with the support and supervision of Kamjong DC Rangnamei Rang Peter and SDO Hungyo Yurreikan, was attended by DIG (Ukhrul & Kamjong) general manager Themreiyo T Awungshi, and MSRLM Kamjong in-charge K Prem as resource persons.

Themreiyo delivered a talk on the topic "Promoting Women Through Skill Development", introducing various government schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM-FME) and the Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialisation Scheme (UNNATI) .
He stressed the critical role of skills in enhancing livelihood opportunities for women and the wider community.
In his presentation, K Prem addressed the topic "Promoting Sustainable Livelihoods for Tribal Women," focusing on the principles of self-help groups, mutual aid, self-reliance, and collective empowerment.
The programme drew around 200 participants, including village chiefs from Bungpa Khullen, Ningthi, and Kangpat Khunou, church leaders, members of SHGs and staff from the Common Service Centre.
The participants received informative pamphlets detailing various government schemes.
As part of the event, a tree plantation programme was conducted at the SD.O office compound.
The attendees were also offered the opportunity to get registered for the PM Vishwakarma Scheme during the event, which was coordinated by the One Stop Centre, in collaboration with the district administration, ICDS Cell, MSRLM, DIC and the Forest Department, under the sponsorship of BBBP scheme.
