2nd round table on springshed management held

Imphal, February 24 2025: Directorate of Environment & Climate Change (DoECC) organised the Second Inter-Departmental Round Table on Springshed Management at Sangai Hall of Hotel Imphal, North AOC on Monday.

The programme was attended by Forest, Environment & Climate Change principal secretary Arun Kumar Sinha, PCCF & HoFF Anurag Bajpai and DoECC director Dr T Brajakumar as members on the dais.

As part of the round table, two technical sessions were held wherein various speakers and experts dwelt on the role of springshed in the hydrological cycle and stressed the need for rejuvenation.

They advocated for an effective springshed management system that would ensure a sustainable water supply, maintaining biodiversity and ecological balance, resilient ecosystems, cultural identity and economic development, especially with regard to Manipur in view of the effects brought on by human-induced activities and climate change.

Later, the gathering discussed the draft roadmap for a comprehensive springshed management strategy and proposed policy recommendations, which could then be developed into actionable projects while strengthening partnerships between stakeholders concerned.
