Dead body found buried under layer of straw

Bishnupur, November 23 2024: Body of a male victim was found buried under a layer of straw in a paddy field adjacent to a road leading to Leimaram Lamkhai under Nambol police station on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Laimayum Devdutta Sharma (34) of Krishna Sharma of Waikhong Ningthoumanai.

According to a police report, the body was discovered by farmers in a ditch next to paddy field along an IVR road leading to Leimaram Lamkhai Leimaram at around 9.40 am Saturday.

On receiving the report, a police team rushed to the spot and retrieved the body.

A team of forensic science experts was called in to conduct an inquest of the body during which a wallet with a voter ID with the name of Laimayum Devdutta Sharma was found.

Subsequently, the family members were contacted and identity of the deceased was confirmed.

The cause of death is unknown as the body bore no marks.

In this regard, a UD case has been registered at Nambol police station and the body has been deposited at RIMS morgue for post mortem.
