Tripura observes birth anniv of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra

Kakching, June 23 2025: The 285th birth anniversary celebration of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra was held at Radha Madhab Debatabari in Agartala Radhanagar, Tripura, on Monday.

The event organised jointly by Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation Manipur (RBCFM) and Literary & Cultural Organisation, Tripura in association with Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Tripura, Marup newspaper, Lamyanba (a socio-cultural organisation in Tripura), Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum, Tripura, Radha Madhab Manipuri Yuva Samaj Committee Agartala, and pradhan Purohit Shijagurumayum Abhijit of Radha Madhab Debatabari Radhanagar Agartala, was attended by West Tripura district magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar and Abhijit Bhattacharjee as chief guest and president respectively.

RBCFM vice president G Ranjit Sharma, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Tripura president Langonjam Birmangal, Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum, Tripura secretary Khoisam Mangal, Lamyanba Organisation advisor Wangkhem Birmangal, Marup editor RK Tarunjit, Radha Madhab Manipuri Yuva Samaj Committee member Shijagurumayum Suman Bhattacharjee, Agartala Municipal Corporation Ward No 12 councillor Santana Saha and Tripura government Planning Board vice chairman Dr Ashok Sinha were also present as guests of honours.

The event marked by offering of floral tributes to the portrait of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra also had a symposium on Rajarshi Bhagyachandra with Wangkhem Birmangal, Lamabam Gojendra, Khundongbam Kumar and Takhellambam Irabot presenting papers followed by cultural performances, including Manipuri traditional dances and Khongjom Parva.

The birth anniversary was also commemorated in Bangladesh.
