World Liver Day, Oral Health Month observed at RIMS

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal observed World Liver Day today under the theme, "Food is Medicine".
As per a release issued by RIMS, the observance aimed at promoting awareness about liver health and the importance of diet in preventing liver diseases.
As part of the observance, an awareness campaign was organised at Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal, in association with students of DM College of Commerce.
The campaign focused on educating students about liver-friendly dietary habits and the role of nutrition in maintaining a healthy liver.
In another significant outreach activity, an awareness campaign targeting Class IX and X students was conducted at Ratan Memorial School, Kwakeithel, Heinoukhongnembi.
The programme was led by Prof Romeo Singh and Dr Sridevi Laishram from the Department of Medicine, RIMS, Imphal, who sensitized the students on liver health, ill effects of junk food, and lifestyle-related liver disorders.
During his address, Prof Romeo Singh emphasized that the liver is a vital organ impacted by daily habits and urged students to avoid junk food, stay hydrated, and adopt a balanced diet for long-term health.
To commemorate the day formally, the World Liver Day Pledge was administered by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal, to the delegates of MESOCON (Medical Society Conference) at Jubilee Hall, RIMS, Imphal.
The pledge underscored the commitment of healthcare professionals to promote liver health and preventive care across communities.
ORAL HEALTH MONTH
The Dental College of the RIMS, Imphal, successfully concluded the month-long celebration of World Oral Health Day 2025, today with a grand closing ceremony held at Banting Hall, RIMS, Imphal.
The event was graced by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal; Prof N Sanjib Singh and Prof Deepak BS, Principal-incharge, Dental College, RIMS, Imphal, as presidium members.
A special highlight of the closing ceremony was the release of an impactful video titled "A Happy Mouth is a Happy Mind", reinforcing the importance of maintaining good oral health for overall well-being.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar lauded the efforts of the Dental College in conducting a wide range of awareness and outreach activities to promote oral hygiene and preventive care among the public.
Prof N Sanjib Singh emphasized the significance of oral health as an integral part of general health and congratulated the organising team for their dedication and innovative initiatives throughout the month.
The programme also featured a summary report presented by Dr Wairokpam Bhoomika, Secretary, World Oral Health Day Celebration Committee 2025, Dental College, RIMS, Imphal.
Dr Bhoomika highlighted the various activities held during the celebration, including street plays, awareness drives, dental check-up camps, student competitions, and community outreach programmes, all aimed at spreading awareness about the theme, "Happy Mouth, Happy Mind".
The event concluded with the distribution of prizes and felicitation of participants, recognizing the active involvement and outstanding contributions of students, faculty, and staff members throughout the month-long campaign.
